That day I wanted to photographically investigate something true, and the nearest true thing happened to be my shadow. Shadows don't lie. And besides, that first day of autumn on the beach was magical. The night before I watched Jean Renoir's "The woman on the beach", as I very often find myself doing when autumn comes. Autumn is about letting go, burning off obsessions, stop clinging to the past. A new start. That's what was coming, I felt it in my feet.
