A photographic investigator is mostly interested the renewing of their mind while observing the renewing of their subjects mind, emerging fresh and vibrant after every photographic investigation. Complete forgetfulness seems to have a lot to do with this renewing… Like Prentice Mulford, in his book “Your forces and how to use them”, says: “To learn to forget is as necessary and useful as to learn to remember. We think of many things every day which it would be more profitable not to think of at all. To be able to forget is to be able to drive away the unseen force (thought) which is injuring us, and change it for a force (or order of thought) to benefit us.”

But my assignment was to photographically investigate some art installations in the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, to find out first hand if there was any truth to that statement. As I was following my oblivious subject, what I thought that it was a mind-block proved to be totally liberating. In the complete silence of the installation I realised something else that Krishnamurti has said in The Book of Life: “Having already done everything possible to find the answer, the mind becomes spontaneously quiet. There is an awareness without choice, without any demand, an awareness in which there is no anxiety; and in that state of mind there is perception. It is this perception alone that will resolve all our problems”.

I investigated her luminous presence in Villa Heriot, in Giudecca and her light was the light of pure love. So my assignment was to photographically investigate this place called “The Realm of Perfect Ideas” but, as always, first I had to find it. My only clue was: “Mona Lisa wears sunglasses” .I also knew that there would not be the slightest sign of a conflict. So I followed Mona Lisa. It was a coffee shop where people were exploring alternative endings to The game of Thrones saga with great enthusiasm -preoccupation as well. You see, 8 years of a mortal’s life are too much to be lost to a bad, another man’s story… So people begun to write theirs. I always knew that soap operas lead to enlightenment. Now I knew that the same can happen with TV shows with a much greater budget. Ah well…
Read MoreMy assignment was to investigate this inter-dimensional dog called Luna who appeared suddenly in the lives of some of my regular subjects. Like all inter-dimensional creatures, Luna was in possession of some serious supernatural powers that had to be kept secret for obvious reasons. Having lived for many years with two of such creatures -my faithful helpers, Juanita and Lupe, the cats- I knew what was in stake. So I did my investigation and I reported my findings -but you can never know what they were. My subject used the “Breath of Life” method which consists in blowing a magic smoke to the object. One of the paradoxes of the ingenious venetian spy web that I have come to know so well in the last years. The only clue that I had about the place of this photographic investigation was a word: Arcana. At first I though that it had to do with tarot cards (and started cursing because I had forgotten my tarot deck in Athens), but then I remembered Corto Maltese's "Corte Sconta called Arcana" in his adventure "Fable of Venice".
